4 Fall Lip Colors and How To Wear Them

September 20, 2014

Hooray, it’s almost autumn! And no matter where you live, you can rock some pretty gorgeous fall lip colors to celebrate this lovely season.

In this post, I’ll show you four of my favorite lipstick colors for fall and how to wear them! The best part is, you can find all of these colors at every price point– from the drug store to the department store.

My 4 Must-Have Fall Lip Colors

  1. The Sweet Nude
  2. The Blue Red
  3. The Bright Copper
  4. The Rich Raisin
The sweet nude.
The sweet nude.

#1. The Sweet Nude. Nude is a beautiful understatement that goes with just about anything. The key is to find a color that is just slightly pinker than your natural skin tone. Make sure you wear some blusher and eye makeup so that your face doesn’t look too washed out! If you’re worried about your lips looking pasty, try a red lip stain underneath!

Wear it with: a pretty headband. This color is all about the soft and sweet.

The one I’m wearing: Laura Mercier creme smooth color in Angelic

The Blue Red

#2. The Blue Red. Red lipsticks come in hundreds of shades. Most of them are either warmer with yellow undertones, or cooler with blue undertones. In the fall, I like to wear a cool, chic red that gracefully fades to a berry pink! If you’re worried about red lipstick bleeding onto your skin, line your lips with concealer to keep it in place!

Wear it with: A top-knot. This color can appear messy and overdone if not paired with a polished look.

The one I’m wearing: Tom Ford Lip Color SLANDER

The bright copper.

#3. The Bright Copper. This is like a fall take on the classic bright orange; it reminds me of color of autumn leaves on a sunny day! Try to find a coppery orange with brown undertones and a bit of shine. This color goes beautifully on cheeks as well!

Wear it with: your hair down. It’s a free-spirited color.

The one I’m wearing: Estee Lauder lipstick in Copper Coral (discontinued– similar here)

The rich raisin.

#4. The Rich Raisin. This is the boldest color by far! The best way to wear it is with a bit of eye-makeup to balance out the heaviness, and some blush so your skin does not look washed out. If you’re a bit scared to wear dark lipstick, be sure to blot the color so that it’s lighter and looks a bit more natural.

Wear it with: a Dutch side braid. This keeps the look young and elegant.

The one I’m wearing: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry

Which one's your favorite?

Those are my favorite colors– what are yours? What lip colors are you wearing this fall?
