A San Francisco Daydream: adventures, meanderings, and local secrets

October 27, 2015

I’m so excited to have Tiffany of Sunshine Daydream Photography here to share about what life is really like in San Francisco! SF is near my home town, so I’m already in love– but so is the rest of the US. And according to Tiffany, it’s just as dreamy and wonderful as we all imagine it to be. Read on for her stories and gorgeous photos.

A San Francisco Daydream 2 2

Some say that urban living isn’t for them, that they could “never live in a city” and often wonder just how many blocks I end up walking when the bus system is delayed. Truth be told, I have been suspended in a San Francisco daydream for quite some time now and sometimes can’t believe I get to live, work and celebrate life in this city nestled between redwoods, mountains and endless golden sand. From the stunning vistas at Lands’ End to the sand dollar sprinkled beach at Fort Funston, San Francisco really is one of a kind.

There are so many components that make San Francisco such a lovely place to live. The different characteristics (and characters) allow residents and visitors alike an endless world to discover in this small 7×7 city. Microclimates, retro bus lines, postcard worthy landmarks, museums, restaurants decorated with string lights and small hidden gems are all part of the experience here.

Early San Francisco mornings when the fog stands still in the midst of the busy commute hour, walk the streets from the edge of Alamo Square Park to the vibrant and hip Divisadero Street to get a true sense of the city’s diversity. Notice the architecture of the homes, the blooms of flowers and intricate plants that line the tall and narrow historic homes of this neighborhood.

You won’t want to miss exploring the beachy vibes of the outer sunset along Ocean Beach and Golden Gate Park. Home to small art studios such as The Great Highway Gallery, one of a kind stores such as Mollusk Surf Shop and sprinkled with amazing places to eat and sip on Trouble coffee, the outer sunset is an almost hidden part of the city. Don’t be surprised to spot wet suit wearing surfers roaming the streets, barefoot beach go-ers with sandy feet and an all around feeling of simple beach living in this sleepy neighborhood.

While you are in the area, pop on over to the Academy of Sciences to view more than 40,000 diverse, live species all under a living roof of native plants. Equip with a planetarium, natural history museum, as soon as you enter the Academy of Sciences, you hear sounds of nature echoing within the tall ceilings. Craving more? Other amazing museums worth checking out are The Exploratorium, the de Young, and the Legion Of Honor.

For those who can’t justify waiting in line for well over an hour for Sunday brunch complimented with just the perfect amount of champagne bubbles may just need to visit San Francisco and experience it for themselves. A city so eclectic and dreamy with the right amount of misty fog is just the perfect combination of elements to write those big rent checks month after month.

Be sure to pop in for honey cake, tea and lunch at 20th Century Café. Craving tacos and an inventive cocktail? Grab your friends and head into Cole Valley to the recently opened Padrecito. Wine and cheese more your style? Tucked away in the mission district is the Cheese School of San Francisco. Wooden details perfectly placed succulent gardens and vertical planters make this space simply ideal for hosting a get together, attending a cheese class or simply catching up with girlfriends.

I’ve only been to San Francisco once, but it was enough to fall in love with it! I will be in Monterey next week- but only in the San Francisco airport 🙁 I’d love to be able to spend more time there one day!

I’ve spent only about 36 hours in San Francisco, but it was more than enough to fall in love with this city! I love Tiffany’s description — it really does sound like a daydream! I daydream about returning all the time. Next time, I will definitely not miss Tartine Bakery!
