Pixie Pants and Bright Colors

October 13, 2014

Have you considered the pixie pants trend yet? These pretty printed pants are so comfortable and transition easily from work to recreation. In fact, one of my favorite fashion bloggers Sydne Summer made a video about how to wear pixie pants just last month!…Continue Reading

The Silk Top and the Blazer

October 6, 2014

Anyone living in SoCal right now is seasonally confused. We’re probably autumn’s hugest fans, but thanks to the heatwave we can’t dress to show our obsession. However, there are still ways to wear our favorite fall colors even when it feels like summer’s still here. That’s why I love pairing this thin burgundy top with a fitted blazer and shorts!…Continue Reading

The Printed Dress and the Orange Purse

September 29, 2014

When it comes to comfort and ease, I love casual dresses! They only need a bit of accessorizing, and will take you through the day without a hiccup. This dress from Ann Taylor is also perfect for anyone looking for a nice cinch at the waist without demanding impeccable posture– if you know what I mean….Continue Reading

Accessorized Black and White

September 23, 2014

When in doubt, my go-to outfit is black and white. It’s so chic, classic, and easy to pull off– the quintessential desk-to-dinner ensemble. Some might say “no white after Labor Day,” but the black and white combo is basically its own color, right?…Continue Reading

Warm Fall Forecast

September 16, 2014

I am usually the first to welcome fall with open arms. The smell of apple cider, the color of pumpkins, the sound of leaves crunching beneath my feet– all autumn cliches that I just can’t resist. But this autumn in Southern California won’t be like the ones I grew accustomed to in New England. Instead, it will be so warm that I will likely chill my apple cider and consider making pumpkin-flavored popsicles!

If you’re in the same boat, then you’re probably wondering how to transition in your fall wardrobe while summer is here to stay a while. Here’s how I did it!…Continue Reading

Braids, Boots, and my Project 333 Roundup

September 12, 2014

I was so excited when it rained this morning. As a New England-Los Angeles transplant, it is taking a while for me to adjust to the dry heat of such overbearing sunlight. I’ve also been wondering what might happen to my fall-winter wardrobe; if I practice what I’ve been preaching throughout this Wardrobe series, I have to give away whatever I don’t use. Thankfully, Los Angeles showed signs of autumn (and drought relief!) today with a little morning rain. The past few weeks have been scorching-hot and I’ve wondered whether I should just throw out all of my sweaters and pants. But not yet! Here I’ve worn my favorite fall outfit combo: skinny jeans and boots. May this cozy weather continue!…Continue Reading

Yellow Night Out

September 9, 2014

Sometimes the best statement to make is a simple one. This is why I love wearing bold colors in the evening when other people might go for black. Not only am I able to use pieces that have been relegated to daywear only, but I also love that bright colors always stand out in a crowd. So spice up your going-out get-up with unexpected pops of color!…Continue Reading

Casual Lace and Denim

September 6, 2014

As we head into late summer, I’m continuing this parade down the idealistic lanes of Project 333 for a little while longer. Several weeks ago, I stumbled upon Courtney Carver’s wardrobe challenge to wear only 33 pieces of clothing and accessories (with a few exclusions) for 3 months. The superhero that I thought myself to be, I promised to wear 11 pieces in 1 month, just to see how many outfits I could throw together….Continue Reading

Boldly Back To School

September 3, 2014

We often associate the back-to-school season with autumn. I still remember the illustrated calendars we had in elementary school; September was the month of new books, pencils, and apples. But most of September is actually in the summer– especially here in Pasadena. Heading back to school (or work), for most of us, really means cutting short the season designed for lounging in the sun. No wonder we cope by looking forward to all the things that fall has to offer….Continue Reading

Denim, Yellow, and Red

When I embarked on Project 333, I had very few pieces on hand to start. Most of my things were in boxes and I was already using a restricted wardrobe. Naturally, I picked my best pieces and was determined to wear them all month long….Continue Reading

Project 333 Outfit #2 and Defining “Chic” for Yourself

August 17, 2014

Outfit #2: Ann Taylor shirt+BCBG shorts+ivory flower necklace

I’m continuing my attempt at Courtney Carver‘s challenge for minimalist fashion– Project 333— by showing you the outfits I create out of the eleven pieces I selected. As you know, I have been downsizing my wardrobe this summer in order to move into a small apartment in SoCal. I must admit that it has been tempting to pair outfits in advance to see how many combos I can pull together, but my first advice from this project is: construct your outfits one day at a time!…Continue Reading

Wardrobe: Project 333 and the Challenge of Minimalist Fashion

August 15, 2014

Fashionable Minimalism: Can I make it through a month wearing only these?
Fashionable Minimalism: Can I make it through a month wearing only these?

There is nothing like packing and moving once every six to eight months to make us realize how much stuff we’ve accumulated. And yet, though I’ve packed, moved and stored every half year since 2010, I still have tons of possessions, and admittedly find myself eyeing more things. What is happening?!…Continue Reading

Guide to Getting Rid of Clothes (and other things)

August 6, 2014

Gently-used clothes that need a new home
Gently-used clothes that need a new home!

If you’re like me, you care about the things you throw away and where they’re going. Recently, I began to actually clean out my closet at the home where I grew up, and I discovered dozens of clothes I rotated in and out of my college closet and items I no longer needed. I also found some toys and trinkets I had held onto out of sentiment and really needed to pass them on….Continue Reading
