48 Hours In Seville, Spain

January 14, 201638 Comments

Seville might possibly be one of my favorite towns in Western Europe, and I have been to a handful. Laid back, sophisticated, sunny and romantic, it's pretty much everything you might possibly be looking for on vacation. In 2015, we ended up traveling to 5 different continents-- and after all that travel, I realized that my favorite activity is wandering. Aaron puts little landmarks on a map app, noting all the cafes, museums, churches and shops we might want to check out in the neighborhood. Then we just meander, taking our time, laughing, investigating, photographing. If you love ...Continue Reading

The 5 Secrets of Powerful Speech

January 11, 201625 Comments

NZ Queenstown 12

Words are everywhere. We are constantly bombarded with messages, promotions, updates, advertisements and campaigns, and the majority of it will add very little value to our lives. Despite my efforts to subscribe only to useful newsletters, I can easily receive over 50 automated emails a day. The value of the word-- written and spoken-- is decreasing. I call it verbal inflation. And as those voices clamor for our attention, we wrestle with our own need to be heard. Words gush out of us when we're tired, frustrated, passionate, contemplative or even confused. So how do we reconcile our ...Continue Reading

My First Video and Blog Awards!

October 11, 201433 Comments

Happy Saturday, friends! Recently I was tagged/nominated by some wonderful blogger friends to share a few facts about myself. Rather than doing 4 separate posts, I'm answering only 1 set of questions in my VERY FIRST VIDEO! This is a bit nerve wracking, but I love watching other bloggers' videos-- ...Continue Reading

Handle With Gentleness.

October 10, 201451 Comments

I am often not a gentle person. I'm brash, stubborn, opinionated and determined. I can be easily angered. And in my campaign to prove that I'm right, I often intimidate others into silence. This may be hard to believe, but those who know me well can testify to seeing this side of me. ...Continue Reading

Boozy Pumpkin Pie

October 9, 201475 Comments

I'm not much of a hard liquor drinker, but I have a weakness for boozy desserts! This pumpkin pie has whiskey in both the filling and the cream on top. So it's basically a recipe for warm, cuddly, happy autumn feelings! ...Continue Reading

What My Blog Doesn’t Say About Me

October 7, 201476 Comments

Friends, I've been confounded lately by the pressure for bloggers to be more and more naked in front of their readers. No, not genuine-- naked. It's almost as though if I show my thighs or how I look when I'm sick, I'm automatically going to be more popular. Or, if I link up my Instagram account to ...Continue Reading

The Silk Top and the Blazer

October 6, 201499 Comments

Anyone living in SoCal right now is seasonally confused. We're probably autumn's hugest fans, but thanks to the heatwave we can't dress to show our obsession. However, there are still ways to wear our favorite fall colors even when it feels like summer's still here. That's why I love pairing this ...Continue Reading

One of my (unnamed) goals for October is to make fresh spinach pasta with our Kitchenaid pasta attachment. If we are successful I will be posting a recipe. Have a ...Continue Reading

Why the 5 Love Languages are Essential for Friendship

October 2, 201449 Comments

You have probably heard of the 5 love languages, often used in reference to romantic relationships. The idea is this: if you know that your partner expresses and receives love in a certain way, then it will help you better demonstrate love to her/him, and receive her/his love in return. And knowing ...Continue Reading

A DIY Hand Treatment to Try At Home

September 26, 201415 Comments

I have a confession: my hands have been a wreck lately. Dry skin, hangnails, little cuts, all of it. And while I'd love to take myself to a nail salon for some pampering, sometimes these luxuries just aren't in the books! But that doesn't mean we can't give our hands some regular TLC. In fact, ...Continue Reading
