Here is my third outfit for my take on Project 333— Courtney Carver’s minimalist wardrobe challenge! Every few days I am sharing an outfit put together with the 11 items I selected for the month.
What I wore: Today, I tucked a loose-fitting printed shirt into a high-waisted skirt. I love high-waisted skirts because they are flattering on practically everyone and are such versatile pieces. To slightly mute the boldness of the colors, I added my beige scarf as an accessory instead of a necklace.
Complete this look: I finally dug out my curling iron! I use an inexpensive Conair 1.5-inch barrel, after spraying some Seven heat protectant on my hair. To survive the Pasadena sun I’m wearing my Anthropologie sunnies (similar here); and I matched my YSL lipstick with my skirt. For shoes, I just got these new Børn platforms (similar here) that make me really tall! For the height, they are incredibly comfortable.
How is this challenge going for me? Well, I have to admit, I’m getting tired of looking at the same colors and patterns– and it hasnot even been half a month yet. This portion of the challenge has been difficult, as I usually enjoy a variety of colors and styles but had to select pieces that would go well together.
At the same time, I’ve realized how easy it is to live on approximately a quarter of my current wardrobe (which would allow more pieces than 11). It’s become easier to clean my closet and consider what pieces I should hold onto.
I also want to mention that I’ve discovered one more way to get rid of clothes, a topic that I posted abouta few weeks ago. Did you know that you can consign or sell your clothing to companies online, who will not only pick up the shipping tab but also mail you the check? If you’re looking to sell clothing (or purchase high-quality items at a discounted price), check out Twice or thredUP! Their websites will also let you know what brands they accept and how much you can expect to be paid.
I don’t know about you, but it has been so much easier to discard my clothing when I know that I’ll receive cash for them– and then in turn be able to donate to causes that I deem worthy. That’s right– selling your clothing not only allows you to help recycle high-quality fashion, but it also allows you to be even more generous. So if you have nice pieces in your closet that you hardly wear, give it a try!
